The runner sprinted through the universe

With splintered breath and fractured heartbeat

Past indigo planets and golden stars stitched into tight darkness

Away from the black holes and consuming shadows

Feet thundering on cold moonlight

The Sun dying above, the Earth drowning below

Running endlessly from the howls of decaying light

Into blinding nothingness

  1. Reminds me of a fan music video for my favorite techno song “Unlikely (Stay With Me)” by Celldweller, that someone made with clips of my favorite movie, MOON. I often forget it’s my favorite movie, I’ve seen so many, but when I am reminded of it, I remember it’s my favorite. It is sad as well, though I believe sad creative things can have a beauty to them, like your poem.

Something about the vastness of space, that I just find attractive, the hard to explain lonely beauty of it… it’s something I enjoy creatively in films and in poetry, so I really like your poem, and your other space-themed poetry 🙂

Other sad space movies I enjoy, are Solaris, and an old 70’s or 80’s movie titled Silent Running. Oh, Pandora as well. I’m sure there are others. The most recent sad space movie I’ve seen was Oblivion, which I didn’t like immediately after watching it, but in retrospect, I have come to appreciate it more.

By the way, here’s a link to the video I was talking about, if you are curious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fcz0LQk1Gng
