there were secrets
woven
underneath her words.
you noticed them in her stutters
they made her tongue heavy
ate at her words
made them fragmented.
you heard them
in her silence
rustle
like leaves
in wayward wind.
you wondered
tracing her cracked lips
if they dried her out
made it hard to breath.
you saw them
past the warmth
of her eyes
a ghostly grey distance
that seemed sometimes
to blur her sight
make her unfocused
like the world
was less real
then her secrets.
