A moon glitters
in a frozen sky.
We walk quietly
careful
not to wake the nightmares
sleeping in the corners of dreams.
Blue butterflies flitter
in and out of cobwebs
gleaming with pearls
and pale children
stare
with empty blue eyes
a future that came too late.
People talk only in echoes
their faces are memories
once there
but now gone.
Night falls endlessly.
Our fingers laced,
our bodies pressed tightly together,
but our minds are still separate.
